 Astaxanthin- An anti-inflammatory antioxidant, derived from the carotenoid family. Studies show it has stronger antioxidant activity (10 times higher than beta-carotene) and can be more than 100 times more effective as antioxidant than Vitamin E. The highest percentage of astaxanthin appears to come from the micro-algae (Haematococcus pluvialis) found in Hawaiian waters.
